Michel Cazelles (1936 - 2019)
was an Artistic Director, a painter, an artist, and a great tin soldier collector.
« Qu’est que c’est que ce gribouillis ? » (french for "What is this scribble ?")
is my end of studies project : developping an art direction for a website referencing my grand-father's artworks.

Pictograms
I began this project by sorting the paintings in five categories: self-portrait, still lifes, seascapes, live models, and landscapes.
On the top-left third, I inserted
an ellipse on each illustration.
This ellipse represents me, in my search for a meaning in the paintings, as well as a connection with my grand-father.
I am changing as the paintings are going pass through me.
Morphing of the different categories
Here is the video I produced, showing the five categories. You can find it on the website's Home Page. I also made and recorded the sound design and music in the video.
